01 — CREATIVE
It's a spiritual story and symbolic journey of a dragon accompanied by two rats. Sharing happiness, togetherness, and prosperousness in the special chinese new year day.
02 — ART & DESIGN
In a nutshell, we tried to go for a stylized comic illustration style alongside 3D cinematography. We created several custom passes for each characters. The outline, rim lights, shadows, and certain effect needs to be fully adjustable that we can have full control over the images. Below are some storyboard we did to visualize how director envision the shots:
03 — MOTION
The rigging and animation were done with 3D Studio Max & Cinema 4D. The most challenging part would be to animate the different toon shaders from two entirely different systems.
At the end, we also decided to get to half-frame 12 FPS workflow to get that classic animation look.
